St Albans

An English courtier and noblewoman, born in 1660, probably at Holywell House in St Albans, where she later had a home. Through her close relationship with Queen Anne she became one of the most influential women of her time. Much of St Albans is named after the Marlboroughs because of her influence.

A horticulturist and educational administrator born in St Albans. She was one of the first students at St Albans High School for Girls, and was later associated with Studley College, which trained women in agriculture.
